As the opening date of the new HSC Women’s Hospital nears, it is important to celebrate and recognize the legacy of the current HSC Women’s Hospital and the history of women’s and maternal health at HSC. The current facility, formerly known as the Maternity Pavilion and Women’s Pavilion, officially opened on 6 May 1950. Over its 65+ year history, the hospital and its staff have contributed significantly to the field of women’s health.
To celebrate the opening of the new HSC Women’s Hospital, this exhibit draws on textual records, newsletters, photographs, and first-hand accounts to showcase the history of women’s and maternal health at HSC.
